Mary Glackmeyer

Mary is a 300-hour certified Jivamukti Yoga Instructor and a 350-hour Swan River Yoga instructor. Mary's teaching is dynamic and transformative. Her education in anatomy, kinesiology, and yoga therapy combined with her “natural ability to capture your attention,” creates a unique setting for one to discover their highest potential. She co-created Longwave Yoga’s 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and co-facilitates both the 200-hour and 300-hour programs. She also serves as Longwave Yoga’s Programs Director. Her classes are sequenced to spark our vital fire through yogic techniques like pranayama, asana, meditation, and chanting, building a steady and joyful foundation from which we can develop the strength, endurance and serenity that we need to walk courageously towards our Truth in life while enjoying every step of the journey!
Yoga FUNdamentals! Yoga is for EveryBODY

Whether you are just starting yoga or have been practicing for many years, this series is a wonderful opportunity to discover how to get to the foundation of the yogic practices and make sure your approach is safe and effective. Have you heard yourself or someone else say, "Yoga is just not for me" or "I will never be able to do that pose?" The truth is that yoga is INCLUSIVE! The different practices can truly be done for every BODY, no matter the physical circumstances and realities we might face, including disease, injury, chronic pain, paralysis, and rehabilitation, the practices of yoga can be used to cultivate balance in the body, mind, and spirit.

 

This 4-week series will explore the optimal alignment principles used in all yoga postures. We will address common misalignments and injuries that occur in the foundational postures as well as how to create modifications and variations through use of props (and a little creativity) to make the posture accessible for every body. There will also be an introduction and exploration of the incredible practices of pranayama (breath work), meditation, and restorative yoga. When our practice is pain-free and rooted, then we can really have FUN!

 

This series is on Monday afternoons, 4:00pm - 5:15pm, September 10 - October 8.
