Rachael Kinsey’s passion for art began as a young child evolving into a career after graduating Art School. She has pursued careers throughout the country in visual merchandising, event + floral design, interior design and running her own jewelry company. After immersing herself in yoga 14 years ago, yoga became a guide in her creative process. She believes we are able to foster our creative skills by connecting our mind body and spirit. Upon completing her 200-hour teacher training program, Rachael has been teaching Kids Art + Yoga Workshops, Mommy and Me Yoga + Art, yoga to kids and teens in schools throughout the Wilmington community with Yoga Village, and meditation classes.

Rachael believes if children become disconnected from technology and their disciplined routine, they are able to tap into their own magic through art and yoga. Collectively, children's intuition and creativity are expanded. By focusing on the art process instead of the end result, every child brings something unique into this world. Rachael aims to foster a healthy space for children to creatively express themselves through movement and art.

Yoga FUNdamentals! Yoga is for EveryBODY

Whether you are just starting yoga or have been practicing for many years, this series is a wonderful opportunity to discover how to get to the foundation of the yogic practices and make sure your approach is safe and effective. Have you heard yourself or someone else say, "Yoga is just not for me" or "I will never be able to do that pose?" The truth is that yoga is INCLUSIVE! The different practices can truly be done for every BODY, no matter the physical circumstances and realities we might face, including disease, injury, chronic pain, paralysis, and rehabilitation, the practices of yoga can be used to cultivate balance in the body, mind, and spirit.

This 4-week series will explore the optimal alignment principles used in all yoga postures. We will address common misalignments and injuries that occur in the foundational postures as well as how to create modifications and variations through use of props (and a little creativity) to make the posture accessible for every body. There will also be an introduction and exploration of the incredible practices of pranayama (breath work), meditation, and restorative yoga. When our practice is pain-free and rooted, then we can really have FUN!

This enrollment runs from Fri Sep 14, 2018 - Sun Sep 16, 2018

“The Light in the Heart is Vaster than All the Worlds”:
Teachings of the Upanishads and the Yogic Life
w/ Bill Mahony

The Upanishads are collections of sacred teachings from India that have inspired spiritual seekers for well over two thousand years. The wisdom they hold can guide us as we deepen and refine our own spiritual lives in today’s world. The foundation of Vedantic philosophy, the core teaching of the Upanishads is that there is a splendid, divine presence within all that exists and that this same splendor shines within each of us at the deepest and truest level of our being.

This weekend Bill Mahony will share teachings from the Upanishads with us as we reflect on questions we share with the sages who first taught them: What is the nature of this divine presence that shines in the light of the heart? How can we come to know that light, immerse ourselves in it, and bring it forth? How can we more fully allow it to illumine our thoughts and perspectives, our relationships with others and our lives in the world?

The wisdom of the Upanishads can inform and support the yogic life as a whole. This will be an inspiring set of discussions. Come join us!

Schedule:

Friday, September 14

“In the Heart Dwell all the Gods.”

5:30pm - 8:30pm

Saturday, September 15

“Thou art That.”

9:00am - 12:00pm

We will hear and discuss teachings from the Upanishads regarding the liberating effect of opening our hearts to the divine Presence within.

“Within You is a Self Formed of Joy.”

1:00pm - 4:00pm

We will learn ways in which the Upanishads describe the true Self and talk about ways in which our practices can help integrate the body, breath and mind with it.

Sunday, September 16

“Your Life is Your Offering.”

10:00am - 1:00pm

Informed by teachings from the Upanishads, we will reflect on the importance of true self-respect, generosity of spirit and compassion as we engage the fullness and complexities of life.

Radical Relaxation: Yoga Nidra w/ Bhakti Prem with Bhakti Prem Sat, Nov 17, 2018 at 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm

Join guest instructor Bhakti Prem for a Yoga Nidra event. Radical Relaxation is an easy to practice yogic deep relaxation technique for stress reduction, body-mind renewal, enhanced well-being, inner peace, self-awareness, and spiritual growth.

Complete relaxation occurs only as a result of alleviating three levels of tension: physical, emotional, and mental. Radical Relaxation is a process for progressively relieving these levels of tension and proceeds further, allowing the consciousness to drop into a meditative state between wakefulness and sleep that is among the deepest possible states of relaxation and inner peace. In Radical Relaxation, you remain conscious during the deep sleep state.

The process is simple: rest comfortably in savasana [on your back] while remaining aware and quiet, and be guided through visualizations and gentle breath-work. This is similar to a prolonged relaxation at the end of yoga class but by focusing on listening, the mind recedes into the background and a peaceful subtle awareness emerges.

Radical Relaxation induces deep body-mind relaxation to revive your system’s innate tendency for equilibrium and good health. It provides the thorough physical, mental and emotional rest needed to protect against the harmful influences of stress and facilitates improved health, inner connection, creativity, overall well-being and self-awareness.

No previous knowledge of yoga is required to enjoy Radical Relaxation. This deeply satisfying experience will leave you feeling centered, refreshed and at peace.

Cost: $25; $20 if registered by November 9.

Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, small pillow (for head), and eye pillow
