Laura

Laura is a Jivamukti Yoga 800-hour certified teacher and holds the highest accreditation available through the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500). She has been practicing yoga for over two decades, and studied for 10 years directly under David Life and Sharon Gannon, founders of Jivamukti Yoga, before completing their last year-long teacher training program ever offered, in 2001. Laura taught at the main Jivamukti center in New York City for 5 years, and has been a guest teacher at the centers in Munich, Germany, and Charleston, SC. Laura founded and directed Avatar Yoga Retreats, leading yoga retreats all over the world, until leaving New York in 2006. She has taught at various centers in Wilmington, NC, since then, pioneered Standup Paddleboard Yoga with WrightsvilleSUP in 2010, and organizes and participates regularly in local charity events, often involving yoga.

  • Enjoy the bliss of mother nature and take your yoga practice off land and into the water!
     
    Briefly review the fundamentals of paddleboarding and water safety on land and then join us in the water as we warm up with a paddle to a pristine "floating yoga studio" in the Intracoastal Waterways of Wrightsville Beach. Surrounded by nature, we will flow through a complete yoga practice available to all levels. SUP Yoga helps to build core strength and integration while cultivating awareness of the true present moment.
     
    This class is seasonal and is weather dependent. Classes will be canceled 30 minutes prior to class start time if weather is not in our favor. 
     
    **Please preregister by 5:00pm the night prior to class. Pay online or by calling the studio. Once registered, you will receive an email with drop in location and details. Carpooling or biking to location is highly recommended, as parking is limited. 

  • Jivamukti | Open
  • In Jivamukti, one can expect uplifting music, breath awareness, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation, meditation, and yoga teachings relevant to one’s life on and off the mat. A typical Jivamukti class incorporates the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga: shastra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahimsa (kindness), nada (music), and dhyana (meditation). Come experience the only Jivamukti class in Wilmington! All levels are welcome, as there will be modifications, specific alignment cues, and options offered throughout class. It is recommended that brand new yogis partake in beginner or basic classes before joining an open-level class.
